PostcardsoftheWest.com

I collect old postcards about the western United States. The older the postcards the more I like them. I have created slideshows with some of the most interesting postcards and cities for yours and my enjoyment. It is nice to be able to blow up these postcards and view them at your own leisure, if you have high speed Internet service. Click on anyone of them and enjoy.

It seems to me that the price of postcards are gradually increasing, even in a bad economy. I am not sure why but I am guessing that there are more people collecting and selling postcards. I have never sold a postcard even though I have tried, since I have so many duplicates. I have managed to get 1300 buy transactions on Ebay.com in the last couple of years, so like others I continue to acquire. I am not counting but I have to believe that I have over 10,000 postcards in my collection.

Whether you have a few postcards or a large collection I have not figured out a way to appraise the postcards let alone buy postcards without holding them in my hands. Unlike pennies, postcards are not all the same there are many factors that make a postcard more or less valuable. The best way for you to get an idea of the value of your postcards without mailing them to me is to go on the Internet where there are hundreds of thousands postcards for sale from around the world. Remember, for sale is not sold.

Things to look for when buying postcards:

1. Subject matter
2. Publisher
3. Age
4. Condition of the postcard
5. Scarcity of the postcard
